Genius Of The Week

Hartford often gets a bad rap. Sad City has always contended that while Hartford has its share of problems, surrounding areas that suburbanites seem to prefer are in fact worse. Take Manchester for example. Not long ago a sleepy tobacco farm town, Manchester is a prime example of a nightmarish 21st century "city". Manchester has the crime and drugs that are negatives prevalent in most cities. What Manchester doesn't have it any sort of centralized area with bars and restaurants. Buckland Hills? We avoid it like the plague.
Buckland Hills is like a congested World's Fair of chain restaurants and stores. One big box after another has popped up around the mall the last 20 years until now the area can hardly be navigated.

The Hartford Courant is reporting that a fine Manchester citizen came into Hartford and stole $168 worth of merchandise. When caught by the security guard, the man faced two decisions; surrender or run. Continuing poor decision making, the man punched the security guard and tried to flee on his stolen yellow scooter.

We have never robbed a store. If we were to rob a store, we don't think we'd use a yellow scooter as our getaway vehicle. The fun didn't end there though. The scooter, which turned out to be stolen, wouldn't start and the suspect fled on foot. The security guard (almost certainly deserving a raise at this point) caught up with the suspect and subdued him with a baton and spray.

All over $168 worth of merchandise. C'mon Manchester; keep your dumb criminals to yourself! We're trying to have a society out here!

  1. I don't seen any mention of Manchester or the scooter. Perhaps a bad link?
