Sad City Parties with the Hartford Party Starters Union

Sad City visited the Hartford Party Starters Union at the Arch Street Tavern for their Halloween costume party on Friday night. The music provided by Lemonade was foreign to us (all post 1999 music is) but, it sounded good and there was an awesome light machine.

Pictured is Sad City's winner for best costume. This costume makes points for originality and a good cultural reference. What separates this costume from the rest is the sheer effort that went into creating it. More costumes (taken with a bad camera) after the jump.

The Chilean miners. A popular 2010 Halloween costume, Chilean miners are certainly at the apex of their cultural relevance. Lacking in originality, the Chilean miner is still a passable costume for this year.

The Ghostbusters group costume was a great idea and well executed. It's amazing how in the 1980's are right now. Brett Michaels is on TV every fifteen minutes. Ripped jeans are sold new with absurd price tags. And every drunk person thinks Living on a Prayer is the greatest song ever recorded.

The scantily clad female is always a popular costume. One could argue the scantily clad female is the highlight of Halloween. We think these were Alice in Wonderland costumes.

These two harassed Sad City about not being in costume. Decent generic costumes that get bonus points for being homemade. Lack originality or any cultural reference.

This dudes costume reminds us of the Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator. The girls costume reminds us why we miss summer.

Yes. Yes it is true that we were taking pictures of the "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Hot Rod" Roddy Piper in the Men's restroom. Is there any truth to the rumor that we were dressed up as the Hart Foundation and the four of us were re-enacting our favorite moments of Wrestlemania III in the bathroom? We'll never tell!

  1. The scantily-clad female is indeed a popular costume, but it's not so much a highlight when it's adopted by land monsters like the ones pictured above. I'm assuming that the Hartford Party Starter's Union, despite their valiant efforts, continue to only attract the savagely unattractive hipster girls. Shame.
