Car Trends In East Hartford

We don't travel to our sister city East Hartford too often. Maybe about once a summer to have a beer on the river at 125 Riverside or once every couple years to an early season (i.e. warm weather) UConn football game. Besides that, we just don't find ourselves compelled to cross the river too often. What we've been missing out on is what appears to be a return on the "car pickup" hybrid, a style first introduced by the Chevrolet El Camino in 1959.

While this type of car seems to have faded from fashion decades ago, loyal reader Farm Boy occasionally treks out to our neighbor to the East and has photographic proof that East Hartford may be bringing the "car pickup" back into fashion as he spotted two on a single journey. Amazing. Almost as rare as the mysterious urban lion we were able to spot and photograph a couple months back.

  2. Wow! Both of those are home-made jobs. The Buick looks much better than the Chrysler or Dodge or whatever the hell that other thing is.

  3. Farm Boy here.... The first one is custom, it is custom diamond plate fabricated for the vehicle, which is actually an old hearse, per the owner! He actually told me he had two of them. The other one was a Chrysler with a Sawzall job, truly ghetto, with painters plastic as the rear windshield. You have to give the owner props though!
