The Weekly Whale
It's been a tough road trip for the Whale as the team is on a frustrating six game losing streak. Not long ago it looked like the Whale might run away with the Northeast Division but their current skid has shrunk the division lead down to two points and only five points separates first and last place in the division.
The week started with a 3-1 loss Sunday to the last place Springfield club. The Whale then traveled to Norfolk for a rare two game series. The back to back games did nothing to change the Whale's road woes as they fell 3-1 Friday and 4-2 Saturday. Five of the six games on the current losing streak have been road games and the Whale remain winless in 2012.
While it will hurt the Whale, it is still happy news that leading scorer and former AHL Player of the Week Kris Newbury was called up to the NHL to join the New York Rangers. We will miss his ability in Hartford, but look forward to him performing at hockey's highest level. Good luck Kris!
The Whale play one more road game Wednesday in Portland before finally returning to the XL Center for home games against Worchester and Norfolk Friday and Saturday. Come out and support the Whale as they try to right the ship and hold onto first place in this crucial part of the season.
Another loss yesterday in Portland. Hopefully we get back on track this wekend with Friday and Saturday home games.
