The Weekly Whale
Finally. After a winless January the Whale were finally able to get their first victory of 2012 Friday night at the XL Center by defeating the Albany Devils 3-2. The long awaited victory was not without moments of trepidation as Albany closed to within one with a late goal and had a few close attempts to tie the game in the final seconds before the horn sounded ending the Whale's 2012 winless drought.
The Whale followed up the win Friday night by starting a win streak with a 4-1 road victory over the Hershey Bears. The Bridgeport Sound Tigers saw their 11 game winning streak end this week allowing the Whale to climb into a first place tie with 51 points. This week the Whale have a home game Tuesday against the Syracuse Crunch before hitting the road and visiting Springfield and Worchester this weekend.
Not quite sure if that's an accomplishment to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteGo winless for the entire month of January and yet still remain near the top of the standings.
I think that points more to how pathetic the division is than how good the Whale are.
