With its low self-esteem and high urban blight, Hartford is the ultimate underdog city. Sad City Hartford documents the joys, sorrows and eccentricities of New England's Rising Star.

WWWHD?

The selling of lactose powder and other agents used to cut cocaine in the narcotics trade at local gas stations is something that Sad City has posted about multiple times over the last year. Pipes, rolling papers and blunts are one thing. But openly aiding narcotics dealing is a little over the line in our opinion.

From our stories Councilman Cotto and his aide de camp Brendan Mahoney tried to introduce an ordinance that would ban the sale of these dilutants in local gas stations. Sadly the well-intended bill is stalled because of disagreement over how it will be enforced and other political skirmishing that prevents progress.

Support The Sad City Ordinance

Sad City Hartford brought you the story of a local Sunoco station profiting off the drug trade this summer. We then followed up with more gas stations selling products used for narcotic trafficking. From these stories Councilman Luis Cotto is now trying to amend an existing ordinance to ban gas stations from selling these products.

Show your support for this amendment and that you won't stand for this type behavior in our community by signing our petition here

If citizens want to get further involved, there will be an opportunity for public comment on the amendment at the City Council Meeting to be held Monday, January 10 at 6PM. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at 550 Main Street. Here is a great chance to get involved and do something that we all can agree is positive for the community.

Sad City Find More Gas Stations Supporting and Profiting Off Local Drug Trade

A while back we brought you the story of the Sunoco on Wethersfield and Brown selling lactose powder, a product drug dealers use to cut cocaine. As it turns out, this is fairly normal for South End gas stations. Sad City has gotten footage of two more gas stations selling lactose and other drug lacing products. Nothing like the local drug dealer being able to get all of their narcotic distribution supplies at the local gas station!

A Hartford Stash House

Last week the Hartford Courant reported on a raid of a drug "stash house" on 121 Gilman Street in the South End. In the raid of the house Hartford Police found over a kilo of raw heroin and $22,000 being hidden in the house by Julio Ramos. With such an exciting development, there was no doubt that we immediatley would have to take a ride and see what a Hartford stash house looks like.

Local Sunoco Station Aids, Profits, Off Of Drug Trafficking

For years the Sunoco station at the busy intersection of Brown and Wethersfield was known for one thing; Fried Chicken. With the Fried Chicken sign prominently displayed outisde, one would get overpowered by the small of the frying grease inside that seemed to never get changed. A couple years ago the store was closed for awhile while it was remodeled and the owners have taken a different approach to business.
