Keney Memorial Campground

The Keney Memorial Tower is one of Hartford's great forgotten landmarks.  Tucked away across from the Church and Ann Main, Albany and Ely intersection, an area we refer to as Hartford's Bermuda Triangle, the Keney Memorial Tower is right next to downtown, yet remains unnoticed by many.

With Spring now in bloom, the season for one of Hartford's natural phenomenons, mattress season, has arrived. Sad City reader Dave P. sent in this picture that captures not only Hartford's forgotten landmark, but a rare off sidewalk mattress sighting.

Hartford Kewl Buildings: The Flat Iron Building

If New York has it's flat iron building, why can't Hartford? Located in one of our favorite areas of town between Ann and High Street, right after Albany Ave and Main Street split, this interesting building currently sits vacant and boarded up. The building doesn't seem to have any significant history, all we were able to uncover is that it was built for any Italian grocery store owner.

Hartford Pay Phone Contest: Pay Phone #25 - WNPR Edition!

Hartford Pay Phone #25 is located at the corner of Albany and Chestnut, one of our favorite areas of town. There is something very interesting about the this area. It's kind of like a Bermuda triangle of Hartford. It marks the end of downtown, the Albany and Main St split, and of course  the infamous "Butt-Ugly Building." Earlier today our little Pay Phone Contest got us invited to visit WNPR in-studio during The Colin McEnroe Show and we had a blast. If you missed it you can hear the whole show here.
