With its low self-esteem and high urban blight, Hartford is the ultimate underdog city. Sad City Hartford documents the joys, sorrows and eccentricities of New England's Rising Star.

Twain House Weekend; Steampunk and Ghost Tours
![]() |

It's shaping up to be a huge weekend for our neighbors at the Mark Twain House. Fresh off the success of "Tapping into Twain" a couple weeks ago, the folks at the Twain House continue to bring exciting events to the neighborhood. First every Friday and Saturday during October the Twain House gives Graveyard Shift Ghost Tours of the possibly haunted house. Sad City will be joining WCCC's Craig The Porn Star on the tour this Friday evening. Now we at Sad City don't exactly believe in ghosts (to be fair we don't particularly believe in anything) but we will chug a few Ecto Coolers, strap on our proton packs and go along for the tour.

Party With HPSU Tonight
Looking for a place to party tonight in Hartford? Look no further than Mad Dawgs with our good friends over at the Hartford Party Starters Union. These guys are always a great time and on the cutting edge of the music scene. Who is Samo Sound Boy and what will be going down at Mad Dawgs? Well we don't know who anyone is unless they recorded an album pre-2000 (we're kind of old) so we'll just grab from the info from the HPSU blog;
We are bringing back our boy Samo Sound Boy all the way from Cali to get the dance floor rolling. we are also going to celebrate the birthdays of two of Hartford finest young ladies Molly Lantagne and Gabbie Barnes. So get the word out and come out and party like its 2009! SEE YOU THERE!!!

A Great Time and A Good Cause
Sad City believes ice hockey is the best live sport by far. Friday you can get a chance to check out Howard Baldwin's (reeling from his recent defeat in "Hot In Hartford") CT Whale and support a good cause on Brian Aselton Night at the XL Center. Brian Aselton was an East Hartford police officer who was killed in the line of duty in January 1999. His name might be familiar to those who travel I-84, as the portion from the Connecticut River to the intersection of Route 15 is named the Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Highway. A scholarship for those seeking a career in law enforcement has been created in his name and ticket sales to the Friday Whale game will go to benefit the scholarship.
