Hartford Pay Phone Contest: Pay Phones #17 & #18
Pay phones #17 & 18 in the Sad City Pay Phone Search are located at the corner of Broad and Park Streets, an exciting little area in our city. Both are checked out as working. The interesting thing about #'s 17 & 18 is the confusing messages around the pay phone. While on one hand the billboard encourages alcohol consumption, a fun, yet possibly damaging activity, the dumpster encourages a pay phone user to dispose of trash in the proper manner. Sadly judging by the trash on top of the dumpster lid, perhaps the dumpster needs a sign instructing citizens to open the lid before dropping trash into the dumpster. Or is the message that the dumpster is offering a place to rest after over consuming alcohol? Further adding to the confusion is that after calling the phone number written on a pay phone we found it to be an addiction services help line. It's all too much for us to sort through. Thanks to Mr. Ceder for the location tip on these phones.
