Head West Young Man

Just remember to bring your sunglasses. Especially if you are heading down Farmington Ave around sunset. Sunsets are almost always wonderful to watch unless you happen to be driving into one in which case navigating roads like Farmington Ave become even more treacherous than usual.

It's curious that while literal sunsets are almost globally celebrated, metaphorical sunsets almost always reference a melancholy event. Especially if you're a top earner and the reference is to a sunset clause.

Bad Parking Award

Parking in Hartford really isn't that difficult at all. Sure, our neighbors in Vermont might think it's a hassle, but compared to other cities it really is a delight. While we don't find parking here difficult at all, those from Texas seem to differ. To be fair, Texas is like 3,247,721 times the size of Connecticut with wide open spaces, but c'mon lady, we are trying to live in a society here!

Intersections We Can't Navigate

As far as North America goes Hartford is a very old city. Much of Hartford was designed and built long before anyone had conceived of the motor vehicle much less the congestion that would follow the rise of the suburbs and white flight from the cities. We at Sad City love living in cities. We accept the congestion, traffic, and a certain level of crime as part of the trade off for the convenience and diversity of the city. Still some Hartford roads and ramps completely confound us.
