Sad City Travels: Awkward Bathroom Edition
While the title for Hartford's Most Awkward Bathroom remains vacated since our good friends at the Half Door made significant improvements to their lavatory, we think we may have found a contender for most awkward bathroom in the United States. While any foray into a public restroom is never exactly a fun trip, (well ok, females seem to enjoy it so much it's a group activity, but we in no way, shape or form are going to attempt to analyze that) an awkwardly situated bathroom can turn a minor annoyance into a dreadful experience.
Public bathrooms run the gamut in size, cleanliness, and awkwardness. Kind of like the time we started the evening in a suite at the Bellagio, then made our way to the Wynn bar and finally found ourselves in a bathroom at the Golden Nugget while someone was vomiting in a stall. The proverbial bathroom race to the bottom.
We were lucky to come upon this super awkward Central Florida bathroom at a time when no one else was present. Later on, we would have to deal with this awkward bathroom packed shoulder to shoulder and lined five or six deep. Times like that we think Howard Hughes had the right idea and that we should just stay home all the time. Seriously, is there anything less dignified than the bathroom trough?

The Yale Bowl in New Haven has the same exact type of bathroom.
ReplyDeleteWell, for the other end of the spectrum , visit the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA.
ReplyDeleteThe Yale Bowl has these, Stafford Speedway too. Fenway Park supposedly used to have them, but I didn't see any the last time I was there.
ReplyDeleteVery similar to Rich Stadium in Buffalo. During Bills games I attended in my youth, even the sinks became urinals!
ReplyDeleteAre you supposed to urinate in those troughs or wash your hands in them, or both? I'm confused. I hear rumors about how bad the men's bathrooms are but this just has me baffled.
ReplyDeleteThey're not for washing hands...
