With its low self-esteem and high urban blight, Hartford is the ultimate underdog city. Sad City Hartford documents the joys, sorrows and eccentricities of New England's Rising Star.

Hot In Hartford: Cotto vs. House
It's a good old Yankees vs. Red Sox battle in the final match of the first round as Councilman Cotto starts his defense of his Hot In Hartford title being pitted against Channel 3 news anchor and Face The State host Dennis House. No one can dispute that Mr. Cotto and Mr. House have become Hartford staples and credits to the city.
Councilman Cotto recently won his re-election bid for City Council as a member of the Working Families Party. An active Councilman and member of the community, Mr. Cotto is one of, if not the, most visible and outspoken Council members. Mr. Cotto is also a long standing friend to Sad City, and not only is he the defending Hot In Hartford champion, he has the unique distinction of being the only person interviewed twice by Sad City. Recently Councilman Cotto has been utilizing YouTube and uploading "Fireside Chats" to communicate with Hartford residents.
Mr. House is a long time city resident approaching 20 years working and living in Hartford. Mr. House anchors the 6 o'clock and 11 o'clock news on Channel 3. If you watch the Survivor season premiere tonight at 8 pm, (not like we always watch or anything) you will likely see Mr. House on a promo for the evening news. In addition to his anchor work, Mr. House also hosts the excellent Face The State which can be seen every Sunday morning. While Face The State does an excellent job covering topical news events and politics, our favorite part is the "flashback" segment where Mr. House always pulls up some awesome archival footage of Hartford. Often these segments are sports related as Mr. House is one of the many who wish for a return of the NHL to Hartford. Mr. House also writes The Hartfordite blog updating us on Hartford area news, politics, and his family adventures with his wood paneled wagon.

ReplyDelete**100% Dennis House is Hot!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCotto Rocks ....House, not so much!
ReplyDeleteDennis House is by far the harder worker.
ReplyDeleteLuis Cotto is more of a pontificator, who doesn't do or isn't capable of doing the hard work that the people of Hartford need him to do. Unfortunately, his lack of a college education, failure to maintain a long-term job aside from politician, experience as a failed business owner and continuing to make the odd choice to predominantly wear T-shirts shows a lack of seriousness that generally undermines his genuine and passionate stands on positions and love for the city of Hartford. There just seems to be a lack of follow through and an inability to see a job to its completion. Once Cotto is able to master some of these deficiencies (remember he is already into his 2nd four year term as a city councilman), we will be a worthy and mature city leader. I truly hope he is able. House on the other hand is truly working at an extremely high level of competence and I believe is the best anchor and thoughtful advocate for Hartford.
Dennis House gets my vote!
