With its low self-esteem and high urban blight, Hartford is the ultimate underdog city. Sad City Hartford documents the joys, sorrows and eccentricities of New England's Rising Star.

Let The Madness Begin!

For the second time Sad City has been able to tie Hartford to Tebowmania. This pic was shot earlier this week by Sad City friend Victoria Reallylonglastname. With Tebow having been traded to the Jets this week a slew off questions arises; will the Jets challenge the Patriots and Giant for popularity in Hartford, will El Mercado start carrying Tebow jerseys, and is Mr. Tebow morally opposed to foot fetishism?

While we can only speculate on the latter two, the first isn't all that far fetched. Remember when you were growing up in the 80's and 90's and EVERYONE was a Giants fan save for a few weirdo Jets fans and you knew like one person who liked the Patriots and you'd just want to ask them "why?" Well a couple Super Bowls can sure make a difference can't it?

That's the good thing about living in Hartford, since we don't really have a team, we can just blow like the wind towards whichever is the team of the moment. Remember pre-2004? Most were Yankees fans and girls who didn't know what an inning was were enamored with Derek Jeter. Of course there would be your close band of Red Sox fans who just kept hoping against hope and, at best, got their hearts broke every year.

Ed. Note: We are leaving out Mets fans, assuming most have drank themselves to death by now. That said, we'll still take them.

One miraculous post season run later and your Mom is calling to tell you Big Papi is her favorite player, you can't get a ticket to Fenway for the next decade, and girls in pink hats who have never heard of Wade Boggs will scream that Johnny Damon is a traitor and don't understand a season where the Red Sox don't win.

So sports teams van change pretty rapidly around these parts. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Tebowmania will bring later this year. One things for sure, it won't be boring. Thanks to Victoria Reallylonglastname for the first Tebowmania sighting of 2012.

  2. All the more reason to have stuck behind the UFL. (I miss the Colonials.)

Though more to the point, Tebow, in New England, really? He's NOT GOOD ENOUGH to be on a license plate, especially one around these parts unless it's his car! And even if it was, an Accord? Come on Tim, you can do so much better.
