Weekly Whale: Playoff Edition

The regular season has come to a close and the CT Whale have advanced to the playoffs where they will face I-95 rivals the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a series that will truly determine who is the victor of The Geico Cup. The Whale lead the Northeast Division for most of the first half of the season before Bridgeport got white hot and overtook them for the division title towards the end of the season.

The playoff series should be a close and physical series from two clubs that are very familiar with each other. The series start in Bridgeport with games Thursday and Saturday. The teams will then travel up I-95 to Hartford for a Sunday 5PM game and a Wednesday 7PM game at the XL Center. Playoff hockey is a whole different animal and you should definitely come check out a game.

While Bridgeport has played great in the second half of the season, all the pressure is on the Norfolk Admirals who have won a mind boggling 27 straight games going  into the playoffs. With their last loss coming in early February, anything short of a championship will be considered a letdown for this juggernaut team.

  1. For your information, I-95 doesn't run through Hartford.
