With its low self-esteem and high urban blight, Hartford is the ultimate underdog city. Sad City Hartford documents the joys, sorrows and eccentricities of New England's Rising Star.

The Leaning Tower of Mattress

Abandoned mattresses on Hartford streets are nothing atypical as the city obviously has a great surplus of mattresses. At Sad City we are interested in only the largest of mattress piles. Here we have the leaning tower of mattress located on the end of Wethersfield Ave right near the South Green. The leaning tower has been there for a few days so your time to view this man-made wonder could be short. Be sure to check it out. On a side note, Athemy, the bodega in the background is a new shop replacing the former Paradise Deli. With a new store front and signage, the bring colors are a welcome contrast to the grey building it is located in.

  1. Call the owner of that building, Neil L. He used to have his office right there and was vigilant about the appearance of that corner and building. The prop mgt contact number is listed in huge letters right on the side facing South Green.

  2. Were these left at the end of the month when people were moving out of apartments? Doesn't the City pick up mattresses as part of their bulk waste pick up routes? I know one of our neighbors recently left several mattresses on the sidewalk on trash day and they were removed by the trash truck.

  9. Do you believe that there are mattress buying guides available for you to have an idea about the best mattress for you to have a peaceful and comfortable sleep? This guide is a very important tool so that one will not end up dissatisfied from the mattress he bought. In fact, there are lots of people who just walk into a shop of mattresses lying on the mattress for a minute and pay for it.
