There was a lot of positive buzz this past weekend regarding the Whale's return to Hartford. And while while we are happy about the direction our minor league hockey franchise has taken, we cannot forget the little people who have been impacted by the change.
The Sad City Hartford cameras tracked down Sonar the Wolf, former mascot of the Hartford Wolf Pack. Sonar told us what he has been up to since he lost his job to Pucky the Whale.
Does anyone want some ironic Hartford Wolf Pack merch?
Sonar hasn't lost his job. He still appears at the Whale games and does charity work in the community, often with Pucky. Get your facts straight and get more positive. It's your kind who sucks the life out of people. Forget Sad City Hartford. You're a Sad Sad Sack!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSonar is actually Rob Zombie's brother in law.
ReplyDeleteBruiser, we all know that Sonar is way too self-centered to do charity work. Where's your credibility regarding a gigantic animal mascot, bro?
ReplyDeleteWhat the Puck??!!??
ReplyDeleteGoodbye to one of the best branding jobs in minor league hockey, hello to a crummy knockoff branding campaign that fails to either evoke memories of the Whalers or inspire hope for the future of the franchise.
ReplyDeleteWe lost the Wolf Pack and got Walgreen's Brand X Hockey Team in its place.
Hartford sucks, that's why I moved.
ReplyDeleteI can never have those 3 minutes and 4 seconds of my life back. :(
ReplyDeleteThat was one of the worst logos and branding ever, it was sooo bad it took thirteen long hard long years to get rid of the Wolfpack but its still the best dump Hartford ever took.
ReplyDeleteThis "Whale" idiocy has failed already.
ReplyDeleteI am not going to buy into this whale name-change. I will not associate myself and spend my money on a team that has a loser name and a loser reputation. The whale is the Mo Greene of Hockey. Always has been, and always will be. I will talk this team down and continue to discourage people from going to the games. I’m thinking of asking Baldwin for permission to set up a table in the concourse to have a bring back the Wolf Pack petition signed.
Whale97
Whale97, you're an idiot. The Wolf Pack is deader then dead. You can get a petition of all 3,000,000+ people in this state, and the Wolf Pack still will not come back. Get over it. Move on, or get out of here. You are such a funny little simpleton. The Whale is here to stay. Deal with it. LOL!
ReplyDeleteNice to see that your entire argument is to call me names. That's OK, the attendance is proving I'm right. Baldwin is a circus clown with a solid record of hockey failure. The Rangers must be laughing their behinds off at his Connecticut Whale act. Not to worry, it will be over soon and Hartford will be without hockey. That ought to make you happy.
ReplyDeleteWhale97
Whale97 you are absolutely incorrect. The attendance is up since the name change. GO ahead set up a table to bring back less attendance at games then there are now. Nobody likes the Wolf Pack brand but you. A petition with one signature, very cute. The team is undefeated at home since the change and even the players say the fans are supporting and cheering for them like they have never seen under the Wolf Crap logo. Sonar is not unemployed by the way for the story creator. He is right there at games with all the real Hartford Hockey fans.
ReplyDeleteYes, attendance was up for one night. In case you didn't notice, it isn't except that one game. 8000 people who showed up that night have not come back despite thousands of free tickets available each night. If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. Enjoy your fantasy while it lasts, this joke won't survive long. Baldwin has failed hockey everywhere he has gone, and he's so confident of this disaster he appointed his uneducated son to run it.
ReplyDeleteWhale97
I am a Whalers and Whale fan, happy Wolf Pack is gone.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how fast the mood of the team as well as the mood of the crowd at the hockey games has changed in the past months.
The Whale team is now winning, they're playing well together, they are scoring goals and the crowd is behind them and moving up fast in the standings. I am starting to see lots of young families come to games as well as Whalers jerseys being worn and a higher class of fans is definitely in attendance now. Before, with the Wolf Pack here, the atmosphere was like a Wal-Mart store with an ice rink in the middle. The Wolf Pack attracted a very low class of fans, they were rude, pigs, sloppy, nasty, foul mouthed, and even obscene. I would never wear Wolf Pack clothing nor show pride in the team, I did not want to be associated with those "people", and I use that term loosely, they made it a very painful experience for those around them. We would go to the ticket window before the game and we would ask the cashier for the worst tickets available, and she would usually say "am I hearing you correctly?", and we would explain to her that we want to sit off on our own where we could follow the game without the seat hogs near us bursting out of their seats and the lingering smell of sewage or motor oil off those around us. I do not know what it was with the Wolf Pack, it was like the instant they came to town, they brought the circus and sideshow with them, it was always funny to see young professionals at the game with their dates, they just looked so normal and out of place among a sea of misfits in XXL Wolf Pack jerseys, I would always get a mental image of the Munsters in my head and start laughing.

ReplyDeleteSonar sounds like he's from Boston. Maybe he can find some work there.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, Munsters ................
ReplyDeleteFebraury 8th and Whale 97 is still wrong as attendance continues to increase. Whoops well we all make mistakes. Rumor is Sonar will be unemployed after the season they already took away his Wolf Pack Jersey.
ReplyDeleteNo one gives a dams about this "Whale" joke. No wonder baby Baldwin can only put fannies in the seat by giving away thousands of tickets. The league sucks, the team sucks, and the management sucks. It doesn't matter anyway, they will be gone in a couple of years. To those saps who actually pay I'm laughing my back side off at you. Keep wearing that 14 year old dirty shirt and keep wasting your money on the minor leagues. Imbeciles.
ReplyDeleteMost people here are whiny crybabies who have been stomping their feet for fourteen years screaming "WAAAA We Want A Team WAAAAA!!!!" The AHL is meaningless to them otherwise. When people figure out that the NHL is never returning this new found interest will decline.
ReplyDeleteI'm done with the "Whale". I've had season tickets for all but the first year of the AHL in Hartford. I paid full price to renew this year. Why pay? Baldwin is giving away thousands of free tickets for every game. I was sent 40 free ticket vouchers last fall. What the hell am I going to with 40 free tickets? Why did I pay for season tickets when it's no problem to attend every game for free?
ReplyDeleteThe last straw was this stupid outdoor game. I got the two seats I paid for. The other day 4 free tickets show up in my mail box. How many tickets has this idiot given away to pretend he is breaking the AHL attendance record? Why should I pay for tickets when thousands are attending this event for free?
Screw you Baldwin, I'm done. You're lying that attendance has increased at the XL, and you're going to lie that you've set a new league attendance record. Baldwin is a bald faced liar who once again is destroying hockey in Hartford.
Go back to Hollywood, Howard. Take your uneducated son with you. They like circus clowns out there. You have failed here twice. Get out of our city. Now. Hartford has had enough of your failed circus act.
The Whale Bowl was a disaster for Baldwin and the fans. Baldwin lied about the attendance, lied to the media and lied to the fans. His very shallow pockets took a huge hit with the losses on the game. He isn't paying his bills, as usual. It's looking more and more like this will be his one and only season. Are you surprised by this failed disaster? You shouldn't be. It's the same thing Baldwin has done to hockey everywhere he has gone. Goodbye and good riddance to this incompetent clown!
ReplyDeleteNew York won't renew next season with Baldwin. Stay tuned!
